It’s officially summer. I’m putting on deodorant at least four times a day, showering at least twice a day, and we are back in South Dakota for what seems like a now annual 4th of July trip. We left for South Dakota on Thursday, just in time for Eli to come down with strep throat. Luckily we have an MD in the family who could diagnose him quickly. She had some tablets on hand to treat it, but have you ever tried getting a tablet down a toddler?! We tried crushing it and hiding it in just about everything imaginable, with no success. I was tempted to just shove it in his mouth and hold his mouth closed like we do with our dog and his worming medicine, but figured that might border on child abuse. So as his fevers rapidly approached 104, we had her call in the liquid medicine. Bubble gum flavored liquid is much better than horribly bitter, gritty butterscotch pudding, because he slurped it down with no problem. Less than 12 hours after his first dose his fevers started coming down and Eli was returning from Zombie-land.
Other things we’ve gotten to do was enjoy a wedding of a good friend of Grant’s. Grant was a groomsman, so I was pretty much flying solo the whole day, but I didn’t mind. Congrats, Emma and Luke! You two make a beautiful couple!
We’ve been hanging out a lot with both sets of grandmas and grandpas. Grandma and Grandpa Beumer got a little surprise for the boys to enjoy while they were here:
And of course we had to enjoy some popsicles during this hot weather!
