How do we tell everyone about one of the biggest decisions we have ever had to make?
How do we share news that is both extremely exciting and achingly overwhelming at the same time?
After wrestling with God for a long time, we have decided to become obedient to His calling to have more children.
Only, this time, He is asking us to travel to another country to find the child He has for us.
We are excited to share with you that we are in the process of international adoption!!
We are rapidly learning how intense and overwhelming this process can be, but we are already seeing God’s faithfulness and joy in the adoption of our next child(ren)!
There are many details that we will be sharing with you in the weeks and months to come, (like why we put “(ren)” at the end of “child”, the whole “wrestling with God” story, and other stuff), and we would like to invite you to follow along with us on our journey.
For now, we would really appreciate your prayers as we continue down this journey. Please pray that the Lord would keep us focused on Him and not all the tasks and “to-do’s” involved in this process. Pray for patience as this can turn into a very lengthy process. And also, please pray for God to provide for us financially, as this can be very expensive – especially international adoption. But most importantly, please pray for our future child(ren) that he/she would stay safe and secure until we can reach him/her!
We’ve added a new page at the top of this website called Adoption Timeline, so that you can get an idea of where we are in the process. Feel free to meander over there to see where we are and get an idea of how to keep praying for us! I will update it as we move through the process.
Grant and I would like to share a quote from Pastor Voddie Baucham from Grace Family Baptist Church in Spring, Texas. We highly value his opinion and wisdom on not just the subject of adoption, but Christian theology in general. Speaking of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, Voddie says, “Adoption is a horizontal reflection of a vertical reality.”
Here is a link to a great sermon by Voddie on Gen. 48 if you want to learn more about the Biblical view of adoption!
We do not adopt because we are the rescuer. We adopt because we are the rescued.
