Big Boy, Sad Momma

It came.  The day I was absolutely dreading.  The day my BABY baby boy grew up.  And it happened.

Andrew got his first haircut.

I didn’t want to do it.  I fought it for weeks.  I wanted to keep those cute little curls.  I don’t know if any of you other mommas out there have a hard time with the first cut, but I do.  It’s like a right of passage or something.  It’s a big deal to me – maybe up there with kindergarten graduations, prom, etc.

And this kid came out with long, thick hair (and then lost it all and looked freakish for a while, but we’ll disregard that), and I wanted him to keep it.

I wanted it to be his trademark.  His most priced asset.  Kind of like Samson.  Because we all know Andrew is big and strong like Samson.  I mean, he’s a full foot shorter than Eli but he can lay on Eli and pin him to the ground – just by laying on him.

Anyway, here’s the before shot:

ImageWhat a cutie, I must say.  But it was time.  It was getting scraggly and his bangs were in his eyes.  Poor kid always had to tilt his head back to see anything.

ImageSweet baby curls….

(And Eli was much more amused by the Kia Soul in the background than the fact that his brother was about to lose his baby-dom)

So after Mommy got herself together and wiped the tears from her eyes, we headed in.

And now here’s the after shot – drum roll please…….

Yup, eat your heart out, little ladies!  A whole new level of cuteness just erupted!

IMG_0447He was in such a good mood after his haircut.  Probably because a whole new world opened up to him that he could actually see.  That and he wasn’t constantly getting poked in the eyeball with hair!

Well, I’m off to go plan their graduations now since those boys are growing up so fast!
