This past weekend all the adults in our small group left the kiddos in the care of another responsible human being, and we met for a kid-free night dressed up like kids!
We had our small group’s 4th Annual Halloween party! Grant and I usually come up with our costumes the day of, but this year we actually planned it out! It was the most planning we have ever done for a costume! And it involved makeup and colored hairspray. First, here are some of our ‘stumes from previous years:
Last year – Mary Poppins and Bert:
Two years ago – Old Farmer and Wife (with baby Eli at the time!):
We added the extra fun factor by dressing as the opposite sex. We can never make things easy.
And then three years ago, we went as Locke and Hurley from the TV show LOST:
Horrible picture, sorry about that. It was in the olden days when we didn’t have a nice camera. You get the idea though. It took us two hours to do Grant’s bald head. And I was pregnant at the time, so not all the pudge is pillows!
This year we didn’t know what to do, so we went on the internet for ideas. And then we found this:
Cool, huh? We really wanted to do it! But this one took a lot of planning! We had to find clothes that were different shades of grey and plan our hair and makeup making sure no color would show through. We love the thrift stores for halloween clothes!
Then I gathered the makeup we would need:
I did my hair during nap time.
We didn’t get any pictures of the hairspraying each other in the shower, or makeup application because, frankly, it was a stinky nasty mess with sticky stuff everywhere. We were lucky that our kids got by unscathed while we were trying to apply everything!
So here is the final product:
Trippy, huh? We didn’t go all out with gray contacts, but still turned out pretty cool. We were thinking we would look like smurfs because gray is really hard to do without making it look blue. But I think it worked.
The whole gang:
We had such a great time! Can’t wait until next year!
Now we get to dress the kiddos up in a couple of days and go trick-or-treating. Pictures to come soon of the little ones!
