Last Sunday (yes over a week ago – I’m lagging behind a little, sorry!), we decided to head out of town for the day. We went to Rock the Cradle, which is a music “festival” or “party” for kids. It was free, so we couldn’t pass it up!
We thought we were going to make it extra free and avoid parking costs by using the “park and ride” shuttle service they had. We parked and the parking attendant told us the shuttle bus had not showed up yet – and it was supposed to have started an hour prior to that. So we waited for 20 minutes, which is an eternity in toddler time – especially when they are buckled in car seats and can’t move. So we decided to just drive over and fork up the cash to pay for parking. It made it less painful since the event was free.
Once we arrived, we walked in and in the first room we went was a huge dance party going on. It was like a prom – only with toddlers! Andrew couldn’t wait to get in there and get his groove on!
Sorry about the fuzzy picture. It’s super hard to get a good shot of a dancing toddler on an iPhone in the dark!
In the back of the dance, there was a booth sponsored by the company Playatta. We got to put goofy accessories on and then dance on screen. They made a video for us, and we were also on the big screen on stage behind the DJ.
Here’s the video for you to watch:
We found an area that was full of YOXO toys to build and create things. Eli and Andrew got to take pictures with their inventions.
Along the way through all other other crafts, music time, story time, and instruments to play, we found another photo booth, so we had to take advantage!
This one is our best one yet! I think we should start a band…
Yup, look for our first album coming out soon!
We had a great day, spending it together as a family, dancing, and being goofy. It was a great reminder to Grant and I to not take ourselves too seriously and just enjoy those goofy moments with our kids. I hope many more of these days are ahead for us!
